Lead Project Manager / Programme Manager

We have an exciting role at Nisbets for a Lead Project Manager / Programme Manager to join the Business Change Team.

The perfect candidate will be responsible for overseeing and managing programmes of change that include multiple projects and span various areas of the business, with a particular emphasis on IT & systems. You will play a critical role in ensuring that these projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality. You will work closely with stakeholders across the organisation to drive change and ensure the successful implementation of new systems, processes, and initiatives.

The role will be based in our Avonmouth office and will offer a Hybrid approach for working

Key Accountabilities

  • Project / Programme Leadership: Lead the planning, execution, and closure of programmes and projects, ensuring alignment with business objectives and strategic goals. Working closely with business leaders to drive change, identify risks & issues and support with business cases.
  • Stakeholder Management: Engage with senior stakeholders to understand their needs and expectations, ensuring clear communication and managing expectations throughout the programme lifecycle.
  • Delivery Methodologies: Responsible for using appropriate programme and project management methodologies based on the context of the individual change, selecting appropriately from predictive (plan-driven) approaches or adaptive (iterative/agile) approaches.
  • Project Integration: Coordinate multiple projects within the programme, ensuring they are integrated effectively to deliver the desired outcomes.
  • Budget Management: Allocate budget efficiently across projects, creating business cases aligned with the business sponsor, agreeing and managing budgets, and ensuring optimal use of internal and external resources including IT as relevant.
  • Risk Management: Identify, assess, and manage risks associated with programme delivery, implementing mitigation strategies as needed.
  • Change Management: Develop and execute change management plans to ensure smooth transitions and adoption of new processes and systems by the business.
  • Performance Monitoring: Establish metrics and KPIs to monitor progress, performance, and impact of programmes, providing regular updates to stakeholders and adjusting as necessary.
  • Continuous Improvement: Promote a culture of continuous improvement, identifying opportunities for process enhancements and driving initiatives to implement best practices.
  • Team Focus: Working collaboratively as part of the wider Business Change Team to create synergies, suggest improvements and foster a team approach.

Capabilities, Skills and Experience Required

  • Experience: Proven experience (5+ years) as a Programme Manager or Lead Project Manager or in a similar role, with a strong track record of managing and delivering change in a fast-paced environment, specific focus on IT system programmes preferable.
  • Qualifications: Project or programme related qualification e.g. PMP, MSP, PRINCE2.
  • Technical Proficiency: Solid understanding of at least one of the following areas: IT system development, supply chain & logistics, retail & online businesses and related technologies.
  • Leadership: Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and guide cross-functional teams.
  • Communication: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of influencing and engaging stakeholders at all levels.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a strategic mindset.
  • Adaptability: Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.
