Import/Export Compliance Administrator

The Import/Export Compliance team are currently recruiting for an experienced Trade Compliance Administrator to join our busy department on a 12 month Fix Term Contract.

The new team member will be responsible to audit imports and export documents, keep processes up to date whilst being the point of support for any Customs queries, internal and external to the organisation.

The role will be based in Avonmouth; however, after a period of training we will be able to look at a Hybrid model of 3 days in the office and 2 at home. The working hours will be 8:30am to 5:15pm.

 

Key Accountabilities

  • Support the day-to-day activities of our customs compliance department.
  • Audit Import and Export documentation in line with internal policies.
  • Liaise with freight agents and support import Clearances.
  • Perform commodity codes classification and commodity codes audits (training available).
  • Support Customs queries coming from stakeholders in the business.
  • Maintain up to date customs compliance processes.
  • Plastic Declaration applications and liaising with Port Health when necessary.

 

Capabilities, Skills and Experience Required

Essential

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Pro-active approach to solving problems, a can-do attitude is vital for this role
  • Experience working in a fast paced and time sensitive environment
  • Ability to prioritise, and stay calm in changing and demanding environment
  • A keen eye for detail and a high level of accuracy
  • Good computer skills, particularly Microsoft Office

Desirable

  • Experience in Export and Import activities
  • Knowledge of customs regulatory requirements and compliance including tariff classification and import / export requirements
  • Familiar with import / export shipping documents
