Multi Skilled Maintenance Engineer
Location: Fletchers Bakery, Sheffield
Shift: 2 days, 2 nights, 4 off

We have a opportunity for an experienced Multi Skilled Maintenance Engineer within our Engineering Team who would be based at our Fletchers Bakery in Sheffield, which forms part of our Northern Cluster.
Our Fletchers bakery has over 125 years of baking tradition, with our Kara bakery supplying delicious wholesale bakery products for over 35 years starting with the first floured bap. Both have been part of the Finsbury Food Group since 2014. Fletchers Bakery can trace its roots back to 1895 and both bakeries portfolio of products have risen (get it?) to include gourmet brioche, traditional sliced bread, bloomer breads and vegan and gluten free options, to name a but a few.
Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the Shift Multi Skilled Maintenance Engineer’s key focus will be to carry out planned maintenance work and repairs to production plant, equipment and buildings. Meanwhile, ensuring safety and reliability of the production process.
The successful candidate will have worked in a similar engineering position within a fast-paced environment previously. This a role which requires the successful candidate to excellent timekeeping skills, attention to detail and flexibility. They should also have the ability to form strong working relationships across the business.
This is what you’ll actually do!
As the Shift Multi Skilled Maintenance Engineer you will look to be continuously developing your knowledge and familiarity with the engineering requirements of the bakery process systems and machinery. You will look to work as an active part of a skilled cross functional planned maintenance team. As well as this you would need to ensure correct Health & Safety, Food Safety and Hygiene standards are adhered to at all times., whilst ensuring a fast and effective response especially under breakdown conditions. You will be required to quickly diagnose faults and take corrective action where necessary. As part of the role, you will also need to assist and support mechanical & electrical engineers with their duties.
You will be actively participating in a Continuous Improvement culture throughout the site, constantly identifying opportunities to improve efficiencies and reduce waste. As the Shift Multi Skilled Maintenance Engineer you will be participating and fully supporting the site Operating Brilliance Process (OBP) and contributing to cross functional objectives if required. You will be required to assist in the training of fellow maintenance engineers, Operator-Technicians and others where necessary.
As part of your role, you will need to ensure planned maintenance work is completed to strict schedules, and constantly look for improvements that will ensure reliability of equipment is improved, meanwhile ensuring good working practices are adhered to throughout. You will get to work on various projects including installation and modifications to plant and equipment.
Ideally this is you!
- Time served apprentice trained with both mechanical and electrical accredited qualifications.
- Good communication skills.
- A thorough and detailed approach to maintenance work.
- You must be able to work as part of a team.
- You must be both literate and numerate.
- Knowledge of plant maintenance work.
- IPAF trained.
- 18th Edition Certificate.
- PLC Programming Capabilities.
- Machining skills & experience.
- Welding Skills & experience.
- FMCG Experience.
