Murrayfield Stadium, a cornerstone of Scottish sport and a venue for unforgettable events, is looking for a skilled and driven Operations General Manager to lead behind the scenes. From match days & major events to day to day conferences, you’ll ensure everything runs smoothly—managing teams across a large multi-purpose venue and driving service excellence that keeps guests coming back.

What you’ll be doing…

As Operations General Manager you will proactively manage operations teams on site as well as be accountable for leading and developing a high performing operations team to deliver an outstanding guest experience for our customers and client.

  • Proactively lead and oversee all daily operational activity across matchday and non-matchday business including hospitality, retail, and conferencing.
  • Recruit, train, develop and lead a high-performing operations team, cultivating a culture of excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement focused on delivering an efficient, high quality service on behalf of The Murrayfield Experience, Scottish Rugby and Elior.
  • Play a lead role in developing and delivering  The Murrayfield Experience’s guest service strategy focused on delivering memorable and outstanding customer experiences.
  • Take an active role in working with site management in developing and evolving the Venue Strategy, translating strategic goals into operational plans and implement best practices that support company objectives and drive performance.
  • Deliver exceptional financial performance enabling profitable growth through efficient cost management, budgeting, forecasting, operational planning and full P&L accountability.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews with team members, providing leadership, guidance and identifying opportunities for training, development and career development.  
  • Develop and deliver operational policies and procedures in line with agreed service standards, operational processes and legislative compliance. Monitor performance to ensure continued delivery against these policies and procedures.
  • Proactively identify areas requiring improvement and introduce processes and training to enhance standards.
  • Maintain full compliance with Health & Safety, Food Safety, Hygiene, Environmental, COSHH and all relevant legislative requirements, company policies and procedures and best practice.
  • Manage and monitor all statutory training, ensuring completion and compliance as per company policy
  • Foster effective and collaborative relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners to enhance operations and support business growth.
  • Maintain clear and consistent communication with your team, colleagues, and key partners. Actively contribute to business reporting and operational feedback loops.
  • Proactively seek and implement service innovations and improvements across operations and guest service delivery.
  • Work closely with the Executive Chef to ensure culinary excellence in delivery and service style, working to continually elevate our food service quality.
  • Ensure the team has thorough and up to date product and service knowledge in order to provide relevant information to customers and clients.
  • Responsible for customer  ensuring that all customer feedback is dealt with professionally and in line with procedures.

What can you bring?

  • Strong leadership with proven ability to manage large, diverse operational teams.
  • Extensive experience in hospitality and event operations, in a large-scale, multi-purpose venue.
  • Commercial acumen with a track record of profitable financial delivery and P&L management.
  • Demonstratable ability to drive service excellence and deliver against customer satisfaction goals.
  • Excellent client and stakeholder management presence and interpersonal skills
  • Previous experience of delivering major events/projects to deadline and within cost parameters
  • Experience of the C&E function within a venue and knowledge of large event sales
  • A strategic individual with detailed commercial acumen and a real hunger to achieve
  • Previous P&L accountability and evidence of commercial acumen; entrepreneurial spirit
  • Strong problem-solving skills and not phased by unforeseen challenges
  • Ability to work under pressure and make sound decisions in fast-paced environment
  • Expert knowledge of Health & Safety, Food Safety, and compliance best practices.
