Location: Sherborne
Contract: 12 hrs/week, three-week rolling rota
Hourly Rate: £12.58 - £12.85
The Abbeyfield Society is a national charity committed to combating loneliness and isolation among older people by providing supportive housing, retirement apartments, and care homes.
We’re currently seeking a reliable and compassionate Cook and Resident Support team member to join our Sherborne location.
What We’re Looking For:
- Confidence in cooking for up to 10 people
- Strong organizational skills, ready to handle a variety of tasks
- Excellent customer service skills with a genuine understanding of the needs of older people
- Basic computer skills (Outlook and Excel experience is a plus, but full training will be provided)

About the Role:
At Abbeyfield, our goal is to create a warm, community-focused environment where residents feel valued and respected. As a Cook and Resident Support team member, you’ll ensure that residents enjoy wholesome, home-cooked meals while also being a friendly face they can turn to for support. You’ll also assist with general wellbeing, handle any issues that arise, and escalate them when needed.
Basic computer and budget management skills are helpful, but full support and training will be provided by our welcoming team.
Requirements:
- Eligibility to work in the UK
- Two satisfactory employment references
- A Standard DBS check (paid for by Abbeyfield) You may be asked to provide details regarding convictions; failure to disclose convictions may result in an offer of employment being revoked.
